Day 92, the palace of corn

With two days of riding to Sioux Falls, I could start heading either south or east.

Which way is the wind blowing....

Predominantly south, so, onward to Mitchell, South Dakota.

I cannot wait to get out of farmland. The rides are becoming increasingly monotonous - so much in fact that I find myself yearning for mountains. I'd climb the bighorns again in an instant.

I've been following Woody, one of the incredible souls I met on my adventure, who just started out on his. He passed through the northern side of the bighorn mountains a few days ago - I am jealous.

Check out his instagram, Woody and his team are taking some neat photos. Plus, they have a drone.

Fifty five miles later, after traveling south all day (actually just a few hours with a glorious tailwind), I arrived in Mitchell.

Unlike Huron, after riding around town for an hour, no warmshowers host found me. That left me camping in one of the city parks, specifically, a softball field.

On the topic of wild camping, baseball field dugouts are my favorite spots to camp. Usually secluded by a wall, and often covered, protecting me from the random rain storms, dugouts are a perfect place to camp. Plus, they're usually accompanied by easy access to water and a restroom.

And every town in the midwest has some sort of sports complex. Even the tiny towns.

I visited the corn palace, but did not go inside.

It is quite remarkable, covered entirely in corn.

I'm running out of things to say. Must get out of cornfields.
