Taking another rest day, Dave and I decided to explore Santa Barbara and visit a REI.
We hit the pier first and met an older Italian fisherman. Although the fish were not biting, he was still in good spirits and belted out a song in Italian for us.
While riding to REI, we stumbled upon Dave Shelton's workshop. He is in the process of constructing a massive steel structure depicting Capricorn. Eventually, the installation will join a similarly constructed banner at an community art collective in downtown Santa Barbara.

Issac, one of the craftsmen on the project, explained how he cut and manipulated the massive steel plates used by the piece. He was joined by his boxer that was absolutely terrified of my helmet.
Isaac, thanks for the photo Dave
Finally, we arrived at REI, picked up some gear and met another cycle tourist outside, Andrew. He build a stunning Surly disk trucker with a highly optimized storage system and an impressive dynamo package that powered two lights and his USB device.
With that said, here is my wiring setup:
A simple stereo jack is soldered to the hub, and plugs into a coupler zip-tied to the rack.
The Sinewave Cycles Revolution is also soldered to a stereo Jack and plugs into the coupler.
I'll test charging a battery with the new setup tomorrow. Dave and I are planning to ride to Ventura on a picturesque route suggested by Mike (our host) and then cut east.
Joe.
