Day 8, air dry

Guadalupe is such a friendly town. Up and packed early, because we were camping in a park, I headed down to the donut shop from yesterday, La Fuente Donuts & Deli.

Inside, I was greeted by the same smiling shop keeper (who also filled all my water bottles, thanks!) and a few patrons. I grabbed a coffee and chatted with Lupé, Gustavo, and Sandra.

I should have taken a picture of everyone, but I wasn't thinking clearly that early.

Sandra gave me a huge hug when she left and Lupé picked up the coffee. Thank you!

Dave and I pedaled down Highway 1 towards Lompoc. Despite our fellow cycle tourists telling us to avoid Lompoc, we found a perfect sunny park to dry all our gear.

You know how a shower feels after being at the beach, well, the feeling is similar.

We treated ourselves to a beer at the Solvang Brewing Company for enduring the rain for two days.

After another beautiful ride out of Lompoc, we pulled in to Gaviota State Beach to camp.

It is so windy, I might blow away tonight, tent and all.

Joe.
